Tigres complete pair of deals


On Monday, the Victoriaville Tigres acquired goaltender Etienne Montpetit from Val-d’Or in exchange for a first round pick in 2018, a second-round pick in 2018 and a third-round pick in 2019.

Montpetit on the season has appeared in 27 games posting a record of 12 wins and 15 losses with save percentage of .920. In 163 career games in the QMJHL, all with Val-d’Or he has picked up 89 wins to go along with nine shutouts.

In a separate deal also with Val-d’Or, Victoriaville sent 20-year-old forward James Phelan along with two third-round picks (one in 2018 the other in 2019) to the Foreurs in exchange for Simon Lafrance, a fifth-round pick in 2018 and an eighth-round pick in 2019.

Lafrance was drafted in the six-round by Val-d’Or in 2015. In 37 games this season for Val-d’Or he has 10 goals and 20 assists. In 108 career games, he has recorded 30 goals and 44 assists. James Phelan so far this season has 15 goals and 24 assists in 37 games. Phalen is a veteran of the QMJHL playing in 294 career games and will provide Val-d’Or with leadership down the stretch.
