Wildcats complete three trades on day one of trade period

When the holiday trading period opened on Monday, the Moncton Wildcats wasted no time by announcing three trades. They have acquired defencemen Gabriel Sylvestre from the Shawinigan Cataractes for Mathieu Boulianne, a first-round pick in 2018 and a second-round pick in 2018.

The six-foot-four defenceman has spent his entire QMJHL career with Shawinigan. In 33 games this season he has five goals and eight assists. Mathieu Boulianne was a fifth-round pick of Moncton in the 2017 QMJHL Draft.

The Wildcats made a deal with Baie-Comeau as well sending forward Derek Dicaire to the Drakkar for an eighth-round pick in 2018. Dicaire spent last season with Moncton scoring seven goals and five assists in 59 games. Dicaire has spent this season with the Valleyfield Braves of the QJAAAHL and has had a solid season recording eight goals and 26 assists in 23 games.

Last, the Wildcats received a fourth-round pick in 2018 from Bathurst in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2018 to complete the Daniil Miromanov trade from back at the QMJHL Draft this past summer.
