Wildcats select Pelletier with third overall pick


The Moncton Wildcats selected forward Jakob Pelletier with the third overall pick in the 2017 QMJHL Draft on Saturday June 3, 2017 in Saint John, N.B.

Pelletier, 16, played with the Seminaire St-Francois Blizzard of the QMAAA where he had 25 goals and 57 points in 40 games. The native of Quebec, Que., also added three goals and 10 points in seven games during the Telus Cup.

This is the first time the Wildcats made a first-round selection since 2011 when they took Brandon Shea 13th overall.

Moncton has two more picks in the first round at 13th and 16th overall.
