Oceanic acquires Ellis from Screaming Eagles


The Rimouski Oceanic acquired goaltender Colten Ellis from the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Saturday June 3, 2017 at the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft.

In return, Cape Breton receives a first-round pick in 2018, originally belonging to Sherbrooke.

Ellis, 16, has appeared in just three games for the Screaming Eagles while posting a 2.50 goals against average and a .885 save percentage. He played this season with the Cape Breton West Islanders of the NSMMHL helping the Islanders to an Atlantic region championship and Telus Cup title. In 15 regular season games, Ellis had a goals against average of 2.05 and a .920 save percentage.

The trade was made official by the QMJHL on Saturday.
