Islanders trade Grametbauer to Wildcats
The Moncton Wildcats acquired goaltender Mark Grametbauer from the Charlottetown Islanders on Friday June 2, 2017.
In return, the Wildcats send defenceman Noah Massie, forward Samuel Meisenheimer, the 53rd overall and 90th overall picks in 2017, and a third-round pick in 2018. Moncton also received the 144th overall pick.
Grametbauer, 19, was acquired by the Islanders during the winter trade period from Gatineau last season and posted a 13-4 (won-lost) record with a 2.46 goals against average and a .910 save percentage with two shutouts. He went 9-3 in the playoffs with a 2.56 goals against average and a 0.913 save percentage with one shutout.
Massie, 18, was pointless in 43 games with the Wildcats. The St-Lazare, Que., native was drafted in the third round by the Wildcats in 2016.
Meisenheimer, 19, scored four goals and eight points in 48 games with the Wildcats. The Viking, Alta., native was a free agent invite by the Wildcats in 2015.
The trade was made official by the QMJHL on Friday. The QMJHL Draft is Saturday June 3, 2017 at 10 a.m. AST in Saint John, N.B.
