Sea Dogs’ Joseph named CHL Player of the Week
The Canadian Hockey League announced Tuesday that Saint John Sea Dogs winger Mathieu Joseph was named CHL player of the week for the playoff week ending May 7.
Joseph scored twice and added three assists for five points in the first two games of the QMJHL President Cup final vs the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. In game 1, Joseph scored an insurance goal, and added two assists in a 6-3 Saint John win. In game 2, Joseph scored another insurance goal and added one assist in a 4-0 Sea Dogs victory.
The 20-year-old from Chambly, Que. is playing in his fourth season with the Sea Dogs, who selected him in the third round of the 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft. This season he delivered career-high offensive numbers with 36 goals and 44 assists for 80 points in 54 games for the first place Sea Dogs and currently ranks second in playoff scoring with 27 points including 13 goals and 14 assists through 16 games.
The fourth round pick of the Lightning in the 2015 NHL Draft represented Canada at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.
