Sea Dogs’ Gauthier suspended two games
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Saint John Sea Dogs forward Julien Gauthier has been suspended two games for a hit to the head on Armada forward Joel Teasdale in Game 2 of the President Cup final.
Gauthier has posted impressive numbers for Saint John posting 11 goals and 17 points in 16 games played. The 19-year-old was given a five-minute major for checking to the head and received a game misconduct for the hit at 7:29 of the third period.
A prospect of the Carolina Hurricanes, Gauthier had the following to say after hearing of the suspension:
“I am disappointed I will not be able to play the next two games. I will be working hard this week, and doing everything I can to be ready for my next opportunity to be back in the line-up.”
The Sea Dogs have said that there will be no further comment from Gauthier or the organization on the suspension.
Gauthier will miss Games 3 and 4 in Blainville. He is eligible to return for Game 5, if the series goes that far.
