Tuesday Night Wrap-Up: Three series in action
Three of the four Quebec Major Junior Hockey League second round playoff series’ took place on Tuesday.
In Bathurst, N.B., Jordan Maher had a goal and an assist as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan beat the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 4-1.
The Titan lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.
Jeffrey Truchon-Viel, Vladimir Kuznetsov and Rodrigo Abols also netted goals for the Titan.
Yvan Mongo had the lone goal for the Armada.
Reilly Pickard made 34 saves in the win for Acadie-Bathurst. Francis Leclerc stopped 25 of 28 shots in the loss for Blainville-Boisbriand.
In Val-d’Or, Que., Mathieu Joseph had a hat trick to help the Saint John Sea Dogs defeat the Val-d’Or Foreurs 7-3.
The Sea Dogs lead the best-of-seven series 3-0.
Cole Reginato, Joe Veleno, Julien Gauthier and Kyle Ward also scored goals for the Sea Dogs.
David Henley, Ivan Kozlov and David Noël replied with goals for the Foreurs.
Callum Booth made 16 saves in the win for Saint John. Etienne Montpetit stopped 52 of 58 shots in the loss for Val-d’Or.
In Chicoutimi, Que., Jean-Christophe Beaudin had two goals and an assist as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies downed the Chicoutimi Saguenéens 3-1.
The Huskies lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.
Peter Abbandonato also scored for the Huskies.
Nicolas Roy had the lone goal for the Saguenéens.
Samuel Harvey made 17 saves in the win for Rouyn-Noranda. Julio Billia stopped 22 of 24 shots in the loss for Chicoutimi.
In Sydney, N.S., Game 3 of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Charlottetown Islanders series was postponed due to ice issues at Centre 200.
Game 3 of the series will now be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m., while Game 4, which was set for Wednesday, will now take place on Thursday at 7 p.m., both in Sydney.
