Saturday Night Wrap-Up: Titan, Sags tie series’ while Sea Dogs, Islanders go up 2-0

All four second round Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series’ were in action on Saturday.

In Saint John, N.B., Mathieu Joseph had a goal and an assist in the Saint John Sea Dogs 4-1 win over the Val-d’Or Foreurs.

The Sea Dogs lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.

Cédric Paré, Julien Gauthier, and Spencer Smallman each added goals for the Sea Dogs.

Simon Lafrance had the lone goal for the Foreurs.

Callum Booth made 17 saves in the win for Saint John. Etienne Montpetit stopped 50 of 53 shots in the loss for Val-d’Or.

In Charlottetown, P.E.I., Kameron Kielly scored the game winner as the Charlottetown Islanders beat the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 5-3.

The Islanders lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.

Daniel Sprong scored two goals while Nicolas Meloche and Adam Marsh added single markers for the Islanders.

Jordan Ty Fournier, Declan Smith and Giovanni Fiore answered with goals for the Screaming Eagles.

Mark Grametbauer made 37 saves in the win for Charlottetown. Kyle Jessiman stopped 23 of 27 shots in the loss for Cape Breton.

In Boisbriand, Que., Jeffrey Truchon-Viel had a hat trick to help the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to a 4-3 win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

The series is tied 1-1.

Aaron Brisebois also scored for the Titan in the game.

Alex Barré-Boulet scored two goals while Connor Bramwell added a single goal for the Armada.

Reilly Pickard made 28 saves in the win for Acadie-Bathurst. Samuel Montembeault stopped 33 of 37 shots in the loss for Blainville-Boisbriand.

In Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Zachary Lavigne netted a pair of goals in the Chicoutimi Saguenéens 5-2 win over the Rouyn-Nornada Huskies.

The series is tied 1-1.

Mark Bzowey, Joey Ratelle and Dmitry Zhukenov added goals for the Saguenéens.

Peter Abbandonato and Gabriel Fontaine replied with goals for the Huskies.

Julio Billia made 24 saves in the win for Chicoutimi. Olivier Tremblay stopped 31 of 35 shots in the loss for Rouyn-Nornada.
