OFFICIAL: Sagueneens acquire Gagnon from Wildcats

The Chicoutimi Sagueneens made a last minute move to bolster their blueline just before the QMJHL trade period ended at noon eastern time on Friday.

In the deal, they acquired overage defenseman Kody Gagnon from the Moncton Wildcats for a third-round pick and fifth round pick.

Gagnon signed with the Wildcats earlier this season and has appeared in 28 games thus far. The 20-year-old blueliner has 10 points and 15 penalty minutes in those games. Prior to joining Moncton the Belle River, Ont., native split time with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League and Toronto Patriots of the OJHL from 2014 to 2016.

The trade was made official by the QMJHL. The trade period closes Jan. 6, 2017.
