OFFICIAL: Remparts acquire Baribeau from Foreurs

The Québec Remparts completed a trade on Friday Jan, 6 2017, in order to get younger in net, acquiring goaltender Dereck Baribeau from the Val-d’Or Foreurs.

In return, Québec is sending forward Sean O’Brien and a second-round pick 2017 to the Foreurs.

Baribeau, 17, was originally drafted fifth overall by Val-d’Or in the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft. A native of Ancienne-Lorette, Que., the six-foot-five, 193-pound netminder has played in 23 games this season, picking up a 7-10 (won-lost) record, while maintaining a 4.26 goals against average and a 0.873 save percentage.

O’Brien, 18, is currently in his second QMJHL season. In 28 games played this year, he has one goal and four assists for five total points, while racking up 10 penalty minutes.

The trade has been confirmed by the QMJHL. The trade period closes on Jan. 6, 2017
