OFFICIAL: Phoenix acquires Donaghey from Foreurs

The Sherbrooke Phoenix acquired defenceman Cody Donaghey from the Val-d’Or Foreurs on Friday Jan. 6, 2017.

The deal comes moments after the Foreurs acquired Donaghey from the Charlottetown Islanders. In return, the Phoenix sends defenceman Skylar Strumas and an eighth-round pick in 2017 to Val-d’Or.

Donaghey, 20, has 10 goals and 35 points in 37 games this season with Charlottetown. He was originally drafted 14th overall by the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in 2012. The St. Johns, N.L., native has played with Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec Remparts, Halifax Mooseheads, Moncton Wildcats and the Islanders while scoring 37 goals and 132 points in 220 regular season games.

Strumas, 19, has two goals in 20 games this season with Sherbrooke.

The trade was made official by the QMJHL.
