Canada finalizes roster


Following an 8-0 win over the Czech Republic, Team Canada finalized its 22-man roster for the 2017 World Junior Hockey Championship.

Bob McKenzie of TSN took to Twitter to announce the roster as it became official:

The final cuts made were:
Sam Steel (18, Regina Pats, Forward)
Zach Senyshyn (19, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, Forward)
Michael McNiven (19, Owen Sound Attack, Goaltender)
Guillaume Brisebois (19, Charlottetown Islanders, Defenceman)
Samuel Girard (18 Shawinigan Cataractes, Defenceman)

Seven Players from the QMJHL were named to Team Canada:
Nicolas Roy (19, Chicoutimi Sagueneens, Forward)
Pierre-Luc Dubois (18, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Forward)
Julien Gauthier (19, Val d’Or Foreurs, Forward)
Mathieu Joseph (19, Saint John Sea Dogs, Forward)
Jeremy Lauzon (19, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Defenceman)
Philippe Myers (19, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Defenceman)
Thomas Chabot ( 19, Saint John Sea Dogs, Defenceman)

Seven players from the WHL, six from the OHL, and 2]two from the NCAA will also represent Team Canada.

Canada opens pre-tournament play against Finland in Montreal on Dec. 18, with the tournament beginning on Boxing Day against Team Russia, in Toronto, Ont..
