U Sports men’s hockey stars to play Canada’s National Junior Team hopefuls


U Sports announced on Monday a two-game exhibition series featuring the U Sports all-stars against the hopefuls for Canadian’s National Junior Team, participating in the 2017 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Toronto and Montreal, Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.

The two-game series will take place on Monday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. EST and Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. EST at the e Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau, home of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

The 23-player roster for U Sport will consist of 11 standouts from the OUA conference as well as six players from each of the AUS and Canada West. The roster will be announced in early December, prior to the event.

Brett Gibson of Queen’s University will be the U Sport head coach, while Mark Howell of the University of Calgary, Brad Peddle of St. Francis Xavier University and Marc-Etienne Hubert of UQTR will join Gibson on the bench as assistant coaches.
