QMJHL property to represent MHL at Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge

The Maritime Junior Hockey League will be represented at the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge by a number of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League property.

The tournament is scheduled for Nov. 14-16 in Cornwall, Ont. The Maritime Junior Hockey League will be represented by two teams at the tournament, Team North and Team South.

Team North consists of QMJHL property Tanner Somers (Acadie-Bathurst/Miramichi), Matthew Williams (Saint John/Summerside), Francis Thibeault (Acadie-Bathurst/Campbellton), Denis Toner (Halifax/Woodstock), Makail Parker (Halifax/Miramichi), Alexandre Lafrenière (Saint John/Woodstock) and Brodie MacArthur (Moncton/Dieppe).

Former QMJHL property and draft picks Lee Dower (Cape Breton/Miramichi), David Comeau (Charlottetown/Woodstock), Nathan Yetman (Charlottetown/Summerside), Brady Griffin-Hefford (Charlottetown/St. Stephen) and Chris Sarault (Saint John/Dieppe) will also participate in the tournament.

Team North’s coaching staff also consists of former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League players, Josh Hepditch (Moncton/current head coach of St. Stephen) and Jeff LeBlanc (Moncton, Drummondville and Quebec/current head coach of Amherst). Fabian Joseph (assistant coach with Halifax/Moncton/current head coach of Woodstock) will also be on the team’s bench.

Team South consists of QMJHL property Mark Kennedy (Saint John/Pictou County), Adam Nolan (Halifax/Valley) and Matthew Barron (Charlottetown/Yarmouth).

Former QMJHL property and draft picks Jason Rioux (Moncton/Truro), Daniel Vautour (Acadie-Bathurst, Charlottetown/Pictou County), Matthew Paul (Cape Breton/South Shore), Nicholas Blanchard (Acadie-Bathurst/Valley), Jordan King (Former Moosehead, now property of Saint John/Amherst) and Alexis Roy (Baie-Comeau/Pictou County) will also play in the tournament for Team South.

Team South’s coaching staff will also consist of former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League player Nick Greenough (Val-d’Or and Halifax) who is currently the head coach of the Valley Wildcats.
