Team Canada Black advances to gold medal game with shootout win


Team Canada Black is heading to the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge gold medal game on Saturday.

The Canadians advanced to the championship game with a 3-2 shootout win over Team Russia in the semifinals Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Friday.

Chase Wouters and Adam McMaster had goals for Team Canada Black in regulation time.

Andrey Svechnikov had both goals for Team Russia.

Jacob Ingham made 37 saves for the Canadians.

Amir Miftakhov stopped 40 of 42 shots for the Russians.

The Russians will now play Team Canada White in the bronze medal game on Saturday.
