Canada Red finishes sixth with loss to United States


Jake Pivonka had two goals to help Team United States edge Team Canada Red 3-2 at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Friday.

With the loss, Team Canada Reds finishes the tournament in sixth place, while the United States finish in fifth place.

Jacob Semik also scored for the Americans.

Ryan Merkley and Benoît-Olivier Groulx of the Halifax Mooseheads replied with goals for the Canadians.

Keegan Karki made 17 saves for Team United States.

Kevin Mandolese of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles stopped 43 of 46 shots for Team Canada Red.
