Canada White edges Canada Red in quarter-finals


Team Canada White is heading to the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge semifinals on Friday.

Jett Woo scored the game winner in the third period for Team Canada White as they defeated Team Canada Red 3-2 in the quarter-finals in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Thursday.

Akil Thomas and Elijah Brown also found the back of the net for Team Canada White.

Riley Damiani and Shawn Element of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar replied with goals for Team Canada Red.

Olivier Rodrigue of the Drummondville Voltigeurs made 30 saves for Team Canada White.

Carl Stankowski turned aside 18 of 21 shots for Team Canada Red.

Team Canada Red will now place in the fifth place game against Team United States.
