Simard Joins UQTR Patriotes for 2016-17

The UQTR Patriotes have added forward Timothé Simard from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens for 2016-17.

Having already officially recruited five QMJHLers for this season, the Patriotes will add Simard to a full roster with minimal turnover heading into this CIS season.

Simard spent a full four seasons in the QMJHL, originally being drafted by the Val-d’Or Foreurs in the fourth round of the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft. After just 32 games as a Foreur in 2012-13, Simard was traded to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, and also represented Quebec U17 at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where he won a silver medal. Simard went on to play another season and a half with Cape Breton before once again being dealt, this time to Chicoutimi in 2014-15, where he would stay until the end of his QMJHL career. Simard finishes his QMJHL career with 246 career games played, 20 goals, 46 assists, and 66 points.

Simard will join a UQTR team fresh off an OUA championship and an appearance at the 2016 CIS University Cup. The Patriotes are set to make another championship run this year, and are expected to be one of the best teams in the CIS.
