The Q News seeking writers for 2016-17 season


The Q News is looking for inspiring writers to fill current vacant positions for the upcoming Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season.

We are looking for dedicated individuals to cover news for the following teams:

Writers can either write stories in English or French.

Duties will include the following:

– Follow the editorial guidelines set by either your English or French editor.
– Covering news involving your team throughout the season.
– Posting actively on Twitter about the team.
– Being able to control yourself as a writer and not a regular fan.


– Ability to find news worthy items and produce appropriate content for them regarding the team.
– Any kind of experience in journalism is considered a strong asset to The Q News team.
– Blogging experience of any kind is considered a strong asset to The Q News team.
– Strong understanding of hockey rules and junior hockey in Maritimes and Quebec.
– Strong knowledge of the team you will be covering.

The writing positions are unpaid and are volunteer positions.

The Q News is also looking for writers for the following leagues:

– New Brunswick / Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League
– NewFoundland Major Midget Hockey League
– Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League
– Reporter to cover general news around the QMJHL

Please note, the same duties and qualifications apply for the above writing positions. It also remains an unpaid and volunteer position.
