Moncton Wildcats head coach Darren Rumble was named an assistant coach for Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team, a club that will compete at this year’s Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.

Rumble, 47, will return to the U18 team after winning gold as an assistant coach with the club at last year’s Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.

The native of Barrie, Ont., is in his fourth season as head coach of the Wildcats. Prior to joining the Wildcats, Rumble served as the head coach of the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. He was also an assistant coach with the Admirals, Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, Lewiston MAINEiacs of the QMJHL and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Paul McFarland of the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League will be Canada’s head coach while Mark French of the Calgary Hitmen will be an assistant coach with the squad.

This year’s Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup will take place in August.
