Huskies down host Rebels to advance to MasterCard Memorial Cup final


RED DEER, ALTA. – The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies are off to the MasterCard Memorial Cup final.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champions defeated the host Red Deer Rebels 3-1 in the tournament semifinal at the Enmax Centrium on Friday.

Francis Perron, Nikolas Brouillard and Martins Dzierkals each had goals for the Huskies.

Luke Philp had the lone goal for the Rebels.

Chase Marchand made 36 saves in the win.

Rylan Toth stopped 24 of 27 shots in the loss.

The Huskies will now play the Ontario Hockey League champion, London Knights, in the MasterCard Memorial Cup final on Sunday. Puck drop is 4:30 p.m. EST.
