Former ‘Q’ players capture AUS title with St. Francis Xavier X-Men


For the first time in over a decade, the St. Francis Xavier X-Men are the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) champions.

The school captured the title, defeating the University of New Brunswick (UNB) 5-3 last Wednesday at the Keating Centre in Antigonish, N.S. The X-Men swept the best-of-three series with UNB 2-0.

Among the St. FX roster are former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League players including Morgan Clark (Rimouski), Brad Cuzner (Cape Breton and Halifax), Garret Holmes (Moncton), Aaron Hoyles (Blainville-Boisbriand and Sherbrooke), Trey Lewis (Halifax), Cory MacIntosh (Cape Breton), Adam Stevens (Acadie-Bathurst and Gatineau), Mark Tremaine (Moncton, Victoriaville and Saint John), and Brent Turnbull (Acadie-Bathurst, Sherbrooke, Quebec and Rimouski).

The St. Francis Xavier X-Men will play in this year’s University Cup, March 17-20, in Halifax, hosted by the Saint Mary’s Huskies.
