Moynihan, Meier lead Moose to OT win

As Danny Moynihan and Timo Meier go, so do the Halifax Mooseheads.

Moynihan netted the overtime winner, and Meier had a four point night as the Mooseheads edged the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 5-4 at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax on Saturday night, Nov. 7.

Meier, a San Jose Sharks prospect, scored once and assisted on three others including the game winner 2:52 into the extra frame.

Also scoring for Halifax were Taylor Ford and Max Fortier, his 11th tally of the season. Moynihan also scored once in regulation. He now has 16 on the season.

Vaclav Karabacek, Matthieu Desautels, Nicolas Leblond, and Matt Jones with the game tying marker at 5:41 of the final stanza, notched the Drakkar goals. Karabacek also chipped in with three helpers, while Nicolas Meloche had two assists.

Kevin Resop earned the goaltending victory for the Mooseheads, stopping 25 of 29 shots sent his way, while Keven Bouchard was tagged with the loss for Baie Comeau. He allowed five goals on 40 shots.

The game–like Friday night’s contest–was officiated by officials from the WHL; they’re in town reportedly for a high-level officiating clinic, according to Willy Palov on twitter.
