Dubois, Girard, Rumble win gold with Canada at Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup


The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League was represented on the Canadian U18 National team, who captured gold at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup on Saturday.

Players Pierre-Luc Dubois (Cape Breton) and Samuel Girard (Shawinigan), as well as Moncton Wildcats head coach Darren Rumble were amongst the Canadians, who defeated Team Sweden 7-3 to capture the team’s eighth straight gold medal at the tournament.

Dubois scored two goals in the game while Girard added two assists. As for Rumble, he was the team’s assistant coach.

Team Canada will return from Breclav, Czech Republic, on Sunday. Dubois and Girard are expected to arrive at the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport around 5:13 p.m. EST.
