Phoenix invites Ontario players to camp; American players to report

The Sherbrooke Phoenix have invited a pair of Ontario free agents to their training camp, according to Jerome Gaudreau of La Tribune.

Goaltender Dalton Ewing and forward Austin Kozluk are expected to attend the team’s training camp next month.

Ewing, 17, appeared in 23 regular season games with the Toronto Young Nationals, posting a goals-against-average of 1.04. He also won the Telus Cup with the Young Nationals this past April.

Kozluk, 19, played in 45 games with the Brampton Bombers of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, scoring six goals and 18 points.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix got more good news.

According to Gaudreau, American players Matthew Allen and Derek Osik will also be reporting to the team’s training camp.

Allen, 16, played in 25 games with Selects Hockey Academy 16U last season, recording 11 goals and 26 points. He was selected by Sherbrooke with the 96th overall pick at the 2015 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.

Osik, 17, appeared in 30 games with St. Mark’s School last season, notching 10 goals and 25 points. He was drafted by the Phoenix with the 210th overall pick at the 2015 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.
