Former Wildcats forward signs with Capitals

The Washington Capitals signed former Moncton Wildcats forward Zach Sill to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced today.

Sill, 27, spent two seasons with the Wildcats in 2007-08 and 2008-09, scoring 27 goals and 50 points in 124 regular season games. Moncton originally drafted Sill in the eighth round of the 2005 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Following his QMJHL career, the Stewiacke, N.S., native suited up for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from 2009 to 2014 and the Toronto Marlies this past season. In 277 games, Sills has collected 33 goals and 73 points.

Sills has also appeared in 83 career regular season NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs and has scored a goal and four points.

Sills is expected to play with Washington’s AHL affiliate, Hershey Bears, for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
