Former QMJHLer Parkes signs with AHL’s Barracuda


Former Montreal Juniors forward Trevor Parkes has signed an AHL contract with the San Jose Barracuda for the upcoming 2015-16 season. The Barracuda announced the news today.

The Barracuda, formerly known as Worcester Sharks, is the new AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks.

Parkes, 24, played with the Juniors (now Blainville-Boisbriand Armada) from 2009 to 2011. In 126 games, the Fort Erie, Ont., native scored 60 goals and 109 points.

Since his departure from the QMJHL, Parkes was back-and-forth between the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL and the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL from 2011 to 2014. This past season, the six-foot-one, 181-pound winger skated split the season between ECHL’s Greenville Road Warriors and the AHL’s Worcester Sharks. In 39 games with Greenville, Parkes scored 15 goals and 33 points. While with Worcester, he added three goals and nine points in 20 games.

Parks has amassed 14 goals and 35 points in 136 AHL games, while collecting 50 goals and 101 points in 89 career ECHL games.
