San Jose Sharks sign Meier to ELC


The San Jose Sharks signed Halifax Mooseheads forward Timo Meier to a three-year, entry-level contract on Tuesday.

Meier, 18, was selected ninth overall by the Sharks at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. It is reported that the St. Gallen, Switzerland, native will receive a base salary of $925,000.

This past season with the Mooseheads, Meier finished second in team scoring with 44 goals and 90 points in 61 games. He also represented Switzerland at the 2015 World Junior Championships scoring two goals and six points in six games.

Halifax drafted Meier 12th overall at the 2013 CHL Import Draft.
