Titan selects Vladimir Kuznetsov first overall in 2015 CHL Import Draft

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan selected Vladimir Kuznetsov of Yekaterinburg, Russia with the first overall pick in the 2015 CHL Import Draft on Tuesday.

Born on Feb. 18, 1998, the 17-year-old left-winger is listed at six-foot-two and 190 pounds.

In 43 regular season games with Avto Yakaterinburg of the Russian Junior Hockey League (MHL) he scored seven goals and assisted on five more while incurring 12 penalty minutes. In five playoff games, he had two goals and two assists.

Kuznetsov also represented Russia at the 2014 World Under-17 Challenge, winning gold.

“We are very excited to select a player like Vladimir,” Titan General Manager Sylvain Couturier said this morning after confirming the selection. “He is a big and strong winger with skill. Being 17-years old, it fits exactly with our age group. The future is continuing to look really good for our organization.”

As shown in the photos posted on the Titan website, he will wear the number 98 for the Titan this fall.
