Kielly invited to Penguins camp

Charlottetown Islanders forward Kameron Kielly has been invited to Pittsburgh Penguins’ development camp this Summer.

The 18-year-old, Charlottetown, P.E.I., native confirmed the news via Twitter on Saturday.

Kielly was not drafted during the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, but said he received a call from the Pittsburgh Penguins saying they only had four picks and wanted to invite him to their development camp.

The six-foot-one, 182-pound centreman scored 16 goals and 49 points in 67 games last season with a plus-one rating. He was ranked 83rd overall amongst North American skaters in Central Scouting’s final rankings.

Kielly will join fellow teammate Daniel Sprong who was drafted 46th overall by the Penguins in 2015. Pittsburgh’s development camp begins July 13.
