Ottawa Senators draft Thomas Chabot 18th overall


With the 18th overall selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, the Ottawa Senators drafted Thomas Chabot of the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Chabot, 18, hails from Ste-Marie-de-Beauce, Que. He played his minor hockey with the Beauce-Amiante Elites.

The six-foot-two defenceman was originally selected by the Sea Dogs 22nd overall in the 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft.

In his rookie season with Saint John, Chabot amassed 22 points in 55 games. As a sophomore, he scored 41 points in 66 games.

The 181-pound blueliner won the gold medal representing his native Canada at 2014 U18 World Junior Championships.

The 2015 NHL Entry Draft continues tomorrow with round 2-7 at BBT&T Center in Sunrise, Fla.
