According to an article published on the team’s website, the junior career of Halifax Mooseheads captain Ryan Falkenham has come to an abrupt end.

Falkenham, 19, is scheduled to have hip surgery for the second time this year and will be unable to participate in the 2015-16 QMJHL regular season and playoffs.

The two-part procedure, which includes removing bone spurs and cleaning up cartilage, began on Friday. The procedure will conclude with the second surgery in December, 2015.

The Halifax, N.S. native spent the last four seasons with the Mooseheads and was a member of the 2013 team that won the MasterCard Memorial Cup. Falkenham was drafted by the Mooseheads, 73rd overall, in the 2011 QMJHL Entry Draft. In 161 career games in Halifax, Falkenham tallied 54 points and 42 penalty minutes.

The Halifax Titans (NSMMHL) alumnus was named the Mooseheads best defensive forward last season.
