Phoenix, Huskies swap forwards


The Sherbrooke Phoenix acquired Julien Pelletier from the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies today at the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft in Sherbrooke, Que.

In return, Sherbrooke sends 18-year-old forward Gabriel Fontaine and a second-round pick in 2016 to the Huskies.

Pelletier, who turns 19 before the season starts, split last season with Cape Breton and Rouyn-Noranda scoring 10 goals and 29 points in 53 games with a minus-21 rating. The Gatineau, Que., native was a third round pick of Cape Breton in 2012 and is also a fourth round pick of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.

Fontaine scored four goals and 19 points in 55 games with the Phoenix. Fontaine was a second round pick, 29th overall by his hometown Phoenix in 2013.

The trade was made official by the QMJHL today.
