Olympiques acquire Bureau from Phoenix


The Gatineau Olympiques acquired 19-year-old goaltender Alex Bureau from the Sherbrooke Phoenix today at the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft in Sherbrooke, Que.

In return, the Olympiques send a third-round pick in 2017 and a sixth-round pick in 2015 (96th overall) to the Phoenix.

Bureau posted a 21-16 (won-lost) record in 42 appearances with the Phoenix this past season with a 3.37 goals against average and a 0.883 save percentage.

The Trois-Rivieres, Que., native is a former second round pick of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in 2012. Bureau has posted a career total 48-47 record with a 3.85 goals against average and a 0.872 save percentage in three QMJHL seasons with Cape Breton and Sherbrooke.

With the 96th overall pick, the Phoenix selected forward Matt Allen from the Selects Academy. The Smithfield, R.I., native scored 11 goals and 26 points in 25 games.

The trade was made official by the QMJHL.
