Mooseheads, Drakkar make trade involving picks
The Halifax Mooseheads and Baie-Comeau Drakkar made a trade during the second round involving three draft picks.
Halifax acquired the 28th overall pick in the second round from Baie-Comeau in return for the 31st overall pick in the second round a fourth round pick in 2015 (62nd overall).
Halifax used the 28th overall pick to select Russian-American forward Ilya Putintsev. The 17-year-old was born in Moscow, Russia but played with the Boston Jr. Bruins Under 16 ann 18 teams this past season. In 23 games with the Under-16 group, the five-foot-eight, 165-pound forward scored 36 goals and 55 points in 23 games. With te Under-18 group, he put up three goals and five points in 18 games.
Baie-Comeau used the 31st overall pick to select defenceman Yan Aucoin. The Riviere-du-Loup, Que., native was ranked ninth overall by CSR in the final rankings.
Aucoin, who turns 16 in August, played 42 games with the College Notre-Dame Albatros of the QMAAA scoring a goal and 14 points.
The fourth-round pick has not been chosen yet.
