Islanders, Armada swap picks


The Charlottetown Islanders traded a pair of picks to acquire the 53rd overall pick in the third round from the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada today at the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft in Sherbrooke, Que.

In return, Charlottetown send a 2015 fourth-round pick (65th overall) and a 2015 fourth-round pick (76th overall) to the Armada.

Prior to the draft, the Islanders did not have second- and third-round picks and acquired them in two separate deals.

With the 53rd overall pick, the Islanders selected 16-year-old forward Carl Gervais from the Montreal National Bantam AAA of the QBAAA scoring eight goals and 18 points in 29 games.

The Armada selected Shawn Miller from the Cole Harbour Wolfpack with the 65th overall pick. Miller scored four goals and 16 points in 22 games with the Wolfpack.

With the 76th overall pick, the Armada then selected defenceman Charles Robidas from College Esther-Blondin of the QMAAA.

The trade was made official by the QMJHL today.
