Generals to host MasterCard Memorial Cup parade and celebration Tuesday

The Oshawa Generals and the City of Oshawa will hold a parade downtown Oshawa, followed by a celebration at the General Motors Centre to commemorate the team as MasterCard Memorial Cup Champions. The parade and celebration will run from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on June 2, 2015.

The parade will begin at City Hall Oshawa (50 Centre St. S.) and end at the General Motors Centre (99 Athol St. E.). The parade will march north on Queen St., east on King St., south on Centre St., across Athol St. towards the GM Centre, and south on Charles St. to the back lot of the arena. The post-parade celebration will take place at the General Motors Centre.

“Come join us downtown to celebrate the Oshawa Generals amazing season. Help us to line the streets and cheer for them as they pass by on their way to the General Motors Centre,” says Mayor John Henry.

Following the parade, the team will be honoured for their success at the ceremony. Fans and residents of Oshawa are invited to both the parade and celebration. Concessions will be open, and there will be an autograph session after the ceremony.

“It’s special to the whole Region what the Oshawa Generals do,” says Oshawa Generals General Manager, Roger Hunt. “In my time here and rightfully so, I’ve heard a lot about the 1990 team and OHL Championship teams and it’s great that the city and the Region get an opportunity to celebrate the 2014-15 team.”
