The Québec Remparts ended the Rimouski Océanic’s season less than two weeks after the Océanic defeated the Remparts for the President’s Cup in the QMJHL Playoffs.

The 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup hosts beat the Océanic, 5-2, in the tiebreaker on Friday.

Jérome Verrier lead the Remparts offense with two-goals. Marc-Olivier Roy, Adam Erne and Anthony Duclair rounded out the scoring for the Québec.

Jérémy Lépine and Samuel Morin scored for the Océanic.

Zachary Fucale made 29 saves improving his record to 2-2 at the tournament.

Philippe Desrosiers allowed 5 goals on 31 Remparts shots.

Verrier opened the scoring for the Remparts late in the first period on the power play. The former Drummondville Voltiguer sniper redirected a point shot by Ryan Graves for his first of the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

The Océanic tied the game early in the second period with a power play goal of their own. Morin, a prospect of the Philadelphia Flyers, fired a shot by Fucale for his first of the tournament.

Québec regained the lead moments later when Anthony Duclair scored his first of the tournament. Duclair fooled Desrosiers with a quick snapshot from 10 feet out.

Moments after Lépine tied the game, Erne took advantage of a Desrosiers miscue to score the eventual game-winning goal. Desrosiers fumbled the puck behind the Océanic net leading to Erne’s second of the tournament.

Verrier scored his second of the game in the final minute of the second period increasing the Remparts lead to two goals.

Roy beat Desrosiers midway through the third period padding the host club’s lead.

The Remparts advance to the semifinal game on Saturday night against the Kelowna Rockets. Québec opened the tournament with a 4-3 defeat of the Rocket. The winner of the semifinal game will meet the Oshawa Generals in the MasterCard Memorial Cup final on Sunday.
