Desrosiers, Océanic blank Remparts at MasterCard Memorial Cup


Philippe Desorisers stopped all 27 shots he faced leading the Rimouski Océanic to a 4-0 victory over the Quebec Remparts at Colisee Pepsi Wednesday.

Just Samson, Michael Joly, Christopher Clapperton and Alexis Loiseau each netted goals for the Océanic.

Rimouski got the scoring started at 14:36 of the first period as Justin Samson scored his first goal of the tournament beating Remparts goaltender Zachary Fucale. Charles-David Beaudoin and Michael Joly were given the assists.

The Océanic took a 2-0 lead as Joly netted his second goal of the tournament at 19:05 of the opening frame. Alexis Loiseau and Guillaume McSween were given the helpers on the goal.

Christopher Clapperton extended the Rimouski lead as he buried his second goal of the tournament on the power play at 5:36 of the second period. Joly and Frédérik Gauthier added the assists.

Rimouski secured the victory as Loiseau found the back of the net for his second goal of the tournament on the power play at 12:40 of the middle frame. Joly and Jan Kostalek recored the helpers.

Fucale turned aside 21 of 25 shots before being replaced by Callum Booth, who stopped all 17 shots he faced in his 27:20 of relief. Fucale was tagged with the loss for the Remparts.

The Rimouski Océanic and Quebec Remparts will meet again on Thursday in the MasterCard Memorial Cup tie-breaker. Game time is 7:30 p.m. EST at the Colisee Pepsi.
