REPORT: Titan to acquire Saguenéens prospect at Draft

According to a report in Friday’s Acadie Nouvelle newspaper, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan is in the process of acquiring a 17-year-old prospect from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens at the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Journalist Robert Lagacé, acting on rumours, indicates Bathurst will be the new home of defenceman Xavier Vinetti who was drafted in the third round of the 2014 QMJHL Draft by the Saguenéens. Vinetti spent the majority of last season with the Collège Charles-Lemoyne Riverains where he notched 11 assists and 56 penalty minutes while maintaining a plus-four rating. He also suited up for nine games with the Saguenéens.

The six-foot-two defender, according to Lagacé’s article, will likely yield the return of a third or fourth-round draft pick.

The move will make an already tough battle for the limited roster spots available on the blue-line even tougher. Captain Guillaume Brisebois, Mark Trickett, Nicolas Latulippe, Nicolas Dumulong, Elijah Francis and Félix Boivin are all expected to return, which will leave prospects like Francis Thibeault, Marc-André Gauvreau and anyone else the Titan drafts at the 2015 QMJHL Draft left to battle for a slot in the opening-day roster.
