Seven QMJHL players capture bronze medal at U18 Championship


Seven Quebec Major Junior Hockey League players captured the bronze medal with Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 team at this year’s IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship.

Guillaume Brisebois, Acadie-Bathurst, Thomas Chabot, Saint John, Jeremy Roy, Sherbrooke, Anthony Beauvillier, Shawinigan, Nathan Noel, Saint John, Nicolas Roy, Chicoutimi, and Pierre-Luc Dubois, Cape Breton, were among the Canadian team who defeated Team Switzerland 5-2 to claim Canada’s fourth straight medal at the world championship.

Glenn Gawdin had two goals in the game while Jansen Harkins, Deven Sideroff and Brett Howden also added goals for the Canadians.

Damien Riat and Robin Fuchs replied with goals for Switzerland.

Zachary Sawchenko picked up the victory in goal for Canada while Joren van Pottelberghe was in goal for Switzerland in the loss.

Players and staff with Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team will return to Canada on Monday.
