Sévigny suspended for 3 games


The QMJHL has suspended Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Mathieu Sévigny for three games.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 20 in a game between the Voltigeurs and Gatineau Olympiques.

Sévigny, 17, ran Olympiques defenceman Elie Bérubé into the boards. Bérubé appeared injured on the play before joining a scrum and fighting Voltigeurs defenceman Julien Carignan-Labbé.

Sévigny was assessed a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.

This is the first time Sévigny has been suspended in the QMJHL.

Sévigny served his the first of his three-game ban on Saturday while the Voltigeurs played the Victoriaville Tigres. He will serve the final two games of his suspension beginning next season.
