Connor Moynihan suspended two games

Halifax Mooseheads forward Connor Moynihan has been suspended two games by the QMJHL.

Moynihan, 17, was assessed a five-minute major for checking from behind and a game misconduct in Saturday night’s game against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The second-year Moosehead was ejected from the game after hitting an unsuspecting Daniel Del Paggio. The Sea Dogs winger appeared injured on the play.

This is the third time this season the Windham, N.H., native has been suspended.

Moynihan served his first-of-two games on Sunday afternoon in the season finale against the Moncton Wildcats.

Moynihan will miss game one of the Mooseheads best-of-seven series against the Shawinigan Cataractes.

The opening round of the 2015 QMJHL President’s Cup Playoffs begins on Thursday, Mar. 26 with the Wildcats hosting the Chicoutimi Saguéneens. The Mooseheads and Cataractes begin their series on Friday, Mar. 27 at Centre Gervais Auto in Shawinigan, Que.,.
