Huskies’ Waked suspended eight games
Rouyn-Noranda Huskies forward Antoine Waked was suspended eight games for two different incidents by the QMJHL’s Director of Player Safety Raymond Bolduc.
Both incidents happened Sunday March 15 against the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
Waked received a three-game suspension for checking to the head and then a five-game suspension for charging.
Waked received a match penalty for charging at the 1:19 mark of the third period on the play.
The 18-year-old, St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Que., native has 15 goals and 31 points in 61 games with the Huskies this season.
He is eligible to return to Rouyn-Noranda’s line-up in the Huskies’ sixth game of the playoffs. His suspension will carry over to the 2015-16 season if the Huskies happen to be eliminated in less than six games.
This is the second longest suspension this season. Storm Phaneuf was suspended nine games for kicking back on Nov. 30, 2014.
