House shuts the door on Osprey
Goalies have to come up with solid performances when it counts most, especially in the playoffs and Luke House did just that Saturday night.
House earned the shutout as the Dennis GM Western Kings advanced to the provincial major midget hockey league final with a 5-0 victory over the Tri-Pen Osprey, in Game 6 of a best-of-seven semi-final affair at the Civic Centre in Corner Brook. Brady Griffin-Hefford scored two goals to lead the charge for the Kings, while Robert Hicks and Mateo Short each chipped in with a goal and two helpers.
Iain Pilgrim also scored for the Kings, while the league’s top defenceman, Jamie Penney, had a pair of assists in the triumph.
Riley Akerman was in net for the loss, but he and his whole team have no reason to hang their heads on the way they performed this season.
The Kings will now battle the top-seeded St. John’s Maple Leafs, who swept their semi-final series against the Central IcePak, in a best-of-seven final beginning March 7 on the East Coast.
