Sea Dogs reassign forward Kealey

Darrell Young and the Saint John Sea Dogs continue to make moves and changes to their roster. The team announced today that forward Alexander Kealey has been reassigned.

The Ottawa, Ont. native only appeared in two games with Saint John this season and did not register a point, but picked up five penalty minutes.

Kealey is scheduled to return to his hometown to play at the midget or Jr. A level for the remainder of the season. That decision will be made at a later date.

“The acquisition of Bokondji Imama and the development of other players meant playing time was going to be limited for Alex in the second half of the season,” said Sea Dogs General Manager Darrell Young. “We like his potential, so we thought it best to give him a chance to play. We believe it will be important for his development going forward.”

Last season with the Ottawa Senators Midget AAA club, the 17-year-old had 12 goals and 28 points in 27 games. In the playoffs, he notched three goals and 11 points in 14 post-season games as his team advanced to the Ontario Major Midget championship game.
