Eight former ‘Q’ players to represent Canada at Spengler Cup

Eight former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League players will represent Canada at this year’s Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland.

Christopher DiDomenico (Saint John and Drummondville), Marc-Antoine Pouliot (Rimouski), Jérôme Samson (Moncton and Val-d’Or), Stefano Giliati (Shawinigan and Lewiston), Alexandre Giroux (Hull and Rouyn-Noranda), Derrick Walser (Beauport and Rimouski), Marc-André Gragnani (P.E.I.) and Drew MacIntyre (Sherbrooke) will each play for Canada at the tournament.

Of note, head coach Guy Boucher, former Rimouski assistant coach and Drummondville head coach, and former Acadie-Bathurst goaltending coach, Leo Luongo, is the team’s video coach.

Team Canada opens the tournament on Dec. 26 against HC Davos.

The tournament runs from Dec. 26 to Dec. 31.
