Mooseheads’ Ehlers named World Junior ‘A’ Challenge MVP; named to all-star team


Team Denmark and Halifax Mooseheads forward Nikolaj Ehlers was named the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge’s Most Valuable Player, following the tournament championship on Saturday.

Ehlers, 18, recorded six goals and three assists in four games with Denmark. He was also in on nine of Denmark’s 14 goals at the tournament.

The Winnipeg Jets prospect was also named to the tournaments all-star team. Joining Ehlers on the all-star team are: Denis Guryanov (Russia), Tommy Novak (USA), Christian Wolanin (USA), Callum Fryer (Canada East) and Eric Schierhorn (USA).

Denmark was defeated 3-2 in overtime by the United States in the gold medal game at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge.
