CONFIRMED: Wildcats ship forward Olivier to Cataractes
The Moncton Wildcats have traded forward Mathieu Olivier to the Shawinigan Cataractes.
In return, the Wildcats receive a thrid-round pick in 2015 (Quebec) from the Cataractes.
Wildcats Director of Hockey Operations Roger Shannon said in a team release it was a very tough decision to make the trade.
“Matt is a great kid and was a good player for us. He will go back to Quebec and have the opportunity to play in front of family which is something we wanted for him.”
Olivier was a seventh round pick of the Wildcats in 2013. Last season as a rookie, the St-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Que., native scored six goals and 14 points in 53 games. In 33 games this season, the six-foot, 187-pound winger has three goals and seven points.
The trade was made official by the QMJHL today.
